Don’t Be a Patsy: Wow, a Funny Anti-Drug Campaign

December 5, 2008

Ok, so we have all seen the Truth Ads to keep kids off drugs, and honestly, it is getting a little old. They used to be pretty good, but they were always a little far fetched. Hill Holliday New York recently came up with a campaign called “Dont Be a Patsy,” which features an over-protective mom named Patsy. Maybe I found it so funny because one of my best friends, named Pat, has a mom a lot like this, or maybe I found it funny because it is real life. It brings the audience in with a real life look, no fancy cameras or anything – just simple filming and people could be your neighbors. The YouTube page is meant to drive parents to www.drugfree.org to learn better ways to talk to their kids about drug use.
What do you think of Patsy?

There are definitely better ways to talk to your kids and grandkids.

The good news is current drug abuse report’s show we are winning the war on drugs. John Walters, who is the director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy stated in a recent article “Reported drug use among eighth, 10th and 12th graders has declined for six straight years. Teen use of cocaine, marijuana and inhalants is down significantly, while consumption of methamphetamine and hallucinogens like LSD and Ecstasy has all but collapsed.”

Keep up the good work Moms, Dads, Teachers, and all Community Leaders so this trend will continue.
